Mechanism
Zinc Oxygen Battery

ZnTech™ harnesses a simple bioelectric reaction. Elemental zinc—embedded in textile yarns or coated onto wound care materials—oxidizes in the presence of moisture and oxygen, generating a continuous low-level microcurrent based on the same principle as a zinc-oxygen battery (Korall et al., U.S. Patent 5,445,901).
This reaction creates a localized electric field, producing 0.17–0.6 volts and 3–7 microamps of current, closely matching the body’s natural bioelectric range of 2–10 microamps (Richter, 1929; Fish & Geddes, 2003).
The process is passive, self-activating, requiring no electronics, batteries, or charging—only normal wear conditions and moisture such as sweat.
